Taught by the Pre-Law Program Manager, these courses help students build the skills, judgment, and perspective needed to understand the legal profession and navigate the law school application process with confidence.
This seminar walks students step by step through the law school application process. Students learn how to craft compelling personal statements, resumes, and letters of recommendation; develop strategies for building a strong, data-informed application; and prepare for the financial realities of legal education with a focus on long-term well-being. Guest speakers and AMA sessions help students understand law school environments and expectations. The course also emphasizes digital literacy and online judgment, preparing students to manage their presence and navigate enrollment decisions. By the end of the seminar, students leave with a personalized application strategy and a clear sense of what it takes to thrive in law school.
This course introduces students to the role of lawyers and the realities of the legal profession. Students examine the structure of the profession, explore diverse career pathways, and consider the ethical responsibilities lawyers face in practice. Through guest speakers, class discussions, and exposure to professional environments, students gain insight into how the profession operates and begin to connect their own interests and strengths with opportunities in law. The course equips students with a grounded understanding of the profession and prepares them to make informed choices about pursuing a legal career.
